Cooking with steam has been for some time, a preferred method for certain vegetables and meat selections. Recently ‘steam ovens’ have come on to the market that will allow you to almost cook anything with steam.
For us at Forbidden Foods and other food companies alike, we’ve never had to consider proving instructions on cooking our food products, i.e black rice in a steam oven. One of our frustrated customers who has a steam oven alerted to this growing trend. No one in our team has a steam oven, so we could only imagine that there is nothing worse than having to cook everything with a 'trial and error' approach and what may be wasted in the process of doing so.
Well luckily with this customers patience and the help of appliance expert and passionate foodie Trudy Smith, we’re able to provide you instructions for cooking our rice in a steam oven! =)
Cooking Rice In A Steam Oven:
Set the steam oven temperature to 100°C.
Add one and quarter cups of water to every one cup of rice.
If black rice or green rice cook in steam oven for 30 minutes.
If red rice cook in steam oven for 20 minutes.
Fluff with a fork.
Tip: There is no need to cook items such a vegetables and meats separately. You can add all in together with out worry of transference of flavours! YAY time saver!
